Liquid chlorine %

I have been searching for this information for a long time, the concentration of Sodium Hypochlorite in bleach. Bleach Concentration.

Turns out that most store brand bleach or private label bleach is produced by KIK custom products. http://www.kikcorp.com/retailer.html

Here is the listing of all the MDS sheets for all of their private label bleaches. It shows the % or concentration of Sodium Hypochlorite in each brand.

http://kik.chemtel.net/results.php

I was looking for Better Value Bleach sold at Piggly Wiggly. You can search for it on the above link or click here: http://kik.chemtel.net/msds/40000196.pdf

You will see the concentration is 1-6%. Gives very little confidence that when you buy the product you are getting 6%? I assume they do it this way to show that it goes out at 6% and can loose concentration over time? Anyone with some time could try to call KIK and find out what the concentrations mean on the MDS sheets.

If you look at the Big Lots brand "Big Lots Top Job Bleach" you will see the same MDS and 1-6%?

Artic White Bleach shows 1-4%. Some show 3%-7%?

The Clorox MDS sheet http://www.thecloroxcompany.com/downloads/msds/bleach/cloroxregularbleach0809_.pdf shows 5-10%

Clorox lists the actual concentration of bleach on the bottle and they also list the "% Available Chlorine". Clorox Regular unscented bleach used to be at 6%, but they are now at 8.25%. Again, this is listed on the bottle. It's the off-brand bleaches that may not list their concentration on the bottle but as a general rule the off-brand Ultra bleaches used to be 6% while their Regular bleaches were 3% or less. We'll see if this changes given the new Clorox concentration.

Thanks for the tip! I stopped in yesterday and got 6 gallons of 12.5% for $12. Came out to 13 cents/ounce  .

The sale is on here for another week, might get a few more.

Thank you! Bought 20 bottles tonight at $2 for 12.5% great deal! Stock up now
Be warned that the higher the percentage the shorter the shelf life. Keep it stored out of the sun in a cool location. Generally it i not the best idea to buy much more than 1-2 months supply of the high concentration LC.

Thanks I will be keeping it in my basement out of the sun, I need to shock my pool this spring and might use it for daily chlorinating to save the hours on my intellichlor IC20.

Even if it were to degrade down to 8.25 or even 6%, at two dollars a gallon, this is still a better price than what I can get the concentrated 8.25% for (2.97/121 oz).

Exactly.. even at 6% it would be a pretty good deal/gal of any bleach/chlorine. I picked up 24 cases LOL... as much as would fit in the car. Hoping I can get through the season with it.. opening, maintenance, and closing... will store in a dark cool corner of the basement.
