Leak under everything but the main drain

Noticed today that the pool is maybe 1/3 full. The water level is at the bottom step and about where it starts to slope in at the deep end. Am I correct to think that this points to it being the main drain or a liner issue?
I think I last checked it in December and it was about where I'd expect given the rainfall after I lowered the level for closing.

Probably a liner leak.

How old is the liner?

It's pretty old, I think, I planned to replace it soon as it's pulling away and kind of bleached. When we bought the house 3ish years ago, the pool inspector gave it 3-5 years. Is there some way to test that it's the liner without filling it and doing the leak testing?
