Hey, so I have a pinhole leak on my DE filter from under the band I think. I'm planning to take it apart in a month or two when I get time and clean the grids and put it back together. The leak itself probably isn't a huge deal overall, except I think it's letting air in when the pump is off, so it has to draw prime, which isn't ideal.

Anyway, it's an old American Products from Sylvan, Model 584090. Diameter is 18 inches. Apparently there is a difference in the parts for these if they're pre-1994 or after 1994, and Pentair is the one to call, but I've tried calling twice and waiting on hold for over an hour each time and never got anyone. I did the "call me back" thing this last time but I don't have high hopes.

Does anyone know which parts I need? I think it's probably these (American Products Titan O-ring Kit - APCK1149 - INYOPools.com), my tank is 18 inches diameter, and they say this is for the 18 inch, but I'm not sure what changes for the model year.

I'm pretty sure the pool was built in 1989. And I assume the filter is original, so I think it's probably a safe bet that it's pre-1994, but I just don't know for sure.

Pentair called back literally 5 minutes after I posted this, lol. Without a serial number they couldn't determine the year either (my serial number just says A__________________ like someone forgot to fill it in). But they did confirm the part numbers for both o-rings (they're both 18 inches, it's the thickness that changes from 5/16 pre-1994 to 1/2 post-1994) and confirmed the rest of the rebuild kit is the same. So I'll probably buy the pre-1994 kit and know that I can hopefully quickly get the other o-ring if necessary, even just locally.

I had one of those, replaced about 12 years ago. It was developing pinhole leaks after about 20 years in service. When you have it apart, inspect the whole thing carefully. They don't last forever. It is an American Products Nautilus, 48sq. ft. Pentair bought American Products, so they are the right people to go to. I imagine parts on these are getting hard to come by, but maybe you'll get lucky. I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that is original to your pool, so try the pre-94 version.
