Jandy Pump Sounding Like Ford Model T

Usual answer is bearings and you need to disassemble the pump to see if something is rubbing or stuck in it.

How old is the pump?

Has the pump run dry?

Let's see what @1poolman1 @JamesW thinks.

Strange sound. How cold is it? Could be the fan shroud on the rear of the pump has shrunk just enough in the cold weather to slightly touch the spinning fan. Could be something in the fan area.

I get the same sound from my pump whenever the air temperature gets below approximately 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Mine is a Pentair Intelliflo VSF and less than 2 years old. Did it last winter as well. Still runs ok.
