I don't come to the forum enough...(only with issues) and can normally find what I need with a good search, hoping some good karma from other forums I participate in (with actual useful information) will help my cause.
Long story short, mice chewing issues discovered during season opening. Replaced/taped/repaired many wires. System works aside from the SWG...Codes 186,181,172,145. which all point to the tri sensor. FRONT PCB board fails the 3 button tests (R-temp, H-Temp) which sure seems like it's a bad board. Before I try and find one (seems troublesome) could damaged wiring from the transformer be the root cause of the PCB malfunctions? The mice chewed some transformer wire insulation but not all the way through, I re-insulated the wire covers but wonder if a change in resistance or anything can cause downstream problems. (should I try to get away with just a transformer)
Realizing going a new route for SWG is probably a smarter option, I am not quite ready to throw in the towel on this if I can find parts. While electronics is not my strong suit I enjoy the tinkering and learning.
I ran out of daylight to complete the troubleshooting board tests and will be doing that tomorrow...All other functions with the power center work normally (pda controlled pump, heater etc)
Open to general suggestions...to include a cat
Not entirely opposed to a new SWG if it can be installed relatively seamlessly. (can live without remote automation but would like to keep existing power center etc)
Not married to salt if a chlorine system makes more sense...though quick search seems more involved than I initially thought.
Have been very happy with the system...once up and running its very low maintenance (pool balance side)
