One of my cheap Intex SWG died, as they do every couple years, so I was looking to buy a new one to replace it and it seems like they are sold out everywhere other than Amazon, where they are triple their normal price. Is this a covid supply shortage that will eventually resolve itself, so I should just add some bleach for this year and get the new one next year? Or has intex discontinued that unit, and I should look for one of the more expensive SWGs?

Which Intex unit? If all you need is a cell I'd check on Discount Salt Pool. They sell one Intex salt cell replacement for ~$250. I think it's the larger cell.
I just checked there, they don't seem to sell Intex parts. Normally the whole unit only costs about $250.
