Identify filter

Hi everyone,

We recently purchased a home that came with a beautiful pool.

This forum has been very helpful to get thru the first months of pool ownership - thanks for that!

I replaced the cartridge filters and filtration has improved significantly. Unfortunately the filter started leaking at the clamp / top and bottom half.

I have cleaned the O-Ring, tried it with and w/o silicone lube and tightened the clamp, but it keeps spraying when the pump is turned on. Leak (almost) stops after initial pump startup.

My guess is that the O-Ring needs to be replaced, the filter is > 15 years old. Can anyone help with identifying the model and share any other thoughts / ideas how to get this resolved.

Thanks so much

Welcome to TFP!

Looks to be a Hayward Swim Clear cartridge filter. Not sure of the size, but you can measure the height of the filter and/or cartridges to find out.
No idea if it's a 20 series or 30 series.

The O-ring should be common between them.

Once you find the manual online, read about reassembly and follow those instructions closely.

I ordered a replacement (DEX2422Z2) - it is bigger than the old rubber one and does not really fit that well. Still leaking (even worse).

The pool was built around 2008, I am wondering if this is an older model that is not compatible with the new metal reinforced seal? My clamp has a spring, see pictures.

Any thoughts about exact model? Catridges are 32 13/16".

Thanks a lot!
