I did an oops -bad pool lady!

I cleaned out the basket on the pool pump. I noticed that the rubber seal is going to have to be replaced cause it's stretched out.

I fastened the lid on and wondered why the pump wasn't priming and discovered that stupid me forgot to open the valve back up!

I've been pouring water in from the hose for what seems like hours and it still isn't priming! Is there really that much air in there or is it just the bad seal causing the problem?

If this is the Super Pump with the square O-Ring, I have just cut off the end to make it fit...

Without a good seal on the pump lid the pump will never prime...

You also need to make sure you coat it with pool lube.

I guess what I was trying to say is that I cut the O-Ring and then put it in the square opening and then cut off the extra to make it just fit..

Thanks for your input. Yes it is the square super pump. As soon as I sent that message off I was able to finally get that o-ring on there so it would seal and wa-la!

It's not coming off again until I get a new one that's for sure...lol!
