how to block Polaris wall outlet for pressure testing?

problem is, the threaded universal wall fitting is buried in the pool wall- so I only have access to the quick-disconnect end. Basically, I need something like this:


with no hole. I tried filling the hole with putty, but the whole eyeball pops out under pressure.
 
Wouldn’t you just unscrew the fitting and insert a test plug or test ball?

Or if you cannot unscrew, just insert a small test ball?
