Hi all - working on a 16x32 in ground liner pool, removed liner to find this at the skimmer.
couple of questions:

is the wall to skimmer joint serviceable with all the rust ?

on the rest of rusty wall sections planned on prepping and using cold galvanizing rustoleum paint - any reason not to?

even after painting should i use foam panels?

You could also try Ospho. It chemically alters Iron Oxide (Rust) and turns into iron phosphate.
Widely used for automotive restoration and comes in 1 gallon jugs. I think 1 gallon should do
the job and it costs about $ 30 bucks. Then you would probably want to at least coat it with oil based primer.
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't do a great job.

Ospho

Looking at the photo though especially near the skimmer, is any of the metal completely gone?
Do the holes for the skimmer plate still have good threads?
If the threads are intact maybe wire brush them thoroughly and dab in a little
anti-seize compound.
