So, I'm in the process of draining a good portion of my pool which has a CYA # of 100+. I'm using a sump pump and a garden hose, easy process.
But, a funny thing happened on the way to draining he pool. I was filtering the pool 18 hours a day thinking this could get rid of my cloudy pool, but when I turned the filter off and the water remained stagnant, the pool became clear. Visually, there doesn't look to be very much material on the bottom of the pool - a little bit of dirt is all.
But when the filter is truned on and the pool water mixes up, the pool becomes cloudy and visibility is only about 2ft.
$64k question, is this what should happen with a high CYA #? Seems strange ...
