Help with spillover losing water (needed for hot tub water filtration)

Hi all - losing water from spillover. Contractor bailed and won’t return calls. He did cut a small channel underneath but it’s not doing anything.

Hi all - losing water from spillover. Contractor bailed and won’t return calls. He did cut a small channel underneath but it’s not doing anything.

Looks more like surface tension is allowing water to flow backwards. Have seen some install a small copper, or stainless steel, lip at the bottom of the spillway to divert water away from the existing lip. Usually have to be custom made, but not that expensive.

You need a channel cut under the spillover that is about 1/4" back from the lip, about 1/4" wide and about 1/4" deep..

This will stop the surface tension that is causing the problem..

Much easier to do when it is being built...
