I've been lurking for a few months and decided to join today. I can tell it's a really great community!
I moved into a house with an IG vinyl pool last August, and had no prior experience. I made one trip to the LPS last summer and walked out with a bag of whatever they told me I needed. After making a Google search later that evening, I realized that I paid them a 10x markup for what turned out to be baking soda (it also didn't fix my problem). Between my frugalness and my general desire to learn new things, I made the commitment to take ownership of the large hole filled with water in my back yard (so I guess the pool supply did something right!). I have to say it's a bit overwhelming, at first, but between this site and various YouTube videos, I think I'm starting to catch on.
