Hello I just installed a Intex 18 x 48 Prism pool, I upgraded to the Intex 3000 GPH Sand filter with the 15,000 gallon Chlorine generator . I Am looking at the Hayward HP50AEE heat pump, the pool store says my Intex pump wont even have enough flow to use the heat pump, however based on the flow stats my Filter flows well above the Maximum recommended for the Heat pump... Anyways before I drop $3000 CDN to install this Heat pump I'd like a more educated opinion , thank you in advance

Intex specs are highly optimistic puffery.

The 3000GPH spec is with no head loss. It cannot do 3000 GPH/ 50 GPM once you add a filter. And then the HP is highly restrictive and will slow that flow down below what the HP requires.

You need to upgrade your filter system first. There's a reason you can purchase a complete pool and filtration system for so little. You will likely need to spend a similar amount for a filter system alone that would be able to filter and run a heat pump. Look for something other than Intex.

I definitely did upgrade the filter, its absolutely massive compared to the filter that came with the pool, I now have a 16" sand filter that holds 120 lbs of sand and has a 3/4HM motor with a system flow of 2,450 gph ,marketed as 3000 GPH the included filter with the pool was a joke, we're going to use it for a small pond we have in our yard , Anyways I bought the heat pump, I want a heated pool regardless so if I cant make it work with this pump I'll upgrade to a pump that can . And yes I spent as much on or more on the pump/filter SWG setup then I did the pool.. Anyways I will let you guys know if it works or not, the pump should be here tomorrow and my election will be here sometime soon after the 14 hopefully . I definitely hope it works and seeing as I bought the upgrade pump and filter for a pool with nearly 4 times the water volume as my pool , my pool barely makes the minimum size requirement . But maybe I'm wrong too I really don't know Darn about pools and pumps, I'm just a ham an egger with a credit card LOL

here is a few pictures of the setup as of yesterday, I added a SWG today but didn't take a picture yet , first picture is the pump that came with the pool vs the pump setup I bought, hopefully it can dot he job, egg on my face if it doesn't
