Hayward skimmer weir flap door

Been trying to replace the skimmer weir flap for my Hayward skimmer SP1070-H. I bought a replacement (SP1070-K), seen the schematics, reviewed a few videos, and still cannot figure it out! It almost seems like it doesn’t fit. Help?

If the second picture is from the skimmer inlet side, it looks like the top of the weir door is tilted toward the pool...it should be tilted toward the skimmer pot.

Is pic 2 from the pool side or skimmer side?

Is the original base plate still installed? Post a few pics of the skimmer mouth with the new weir door removed.
