I’ve come across a condundrum while installing a Hayward pool light model #SP0670U. The light came with 10 screws to install the light face plate, gasket and rear bracket on each side of the pool wall. The supplied screws are listed as #13 1 1/4 inches. I’ve attached a picture from the manual and a picture of the actual screw. My pool wall is custom in the area where the light is being installed and I need a similar #13 stainless screw at 2 1/2 or 2 5/8 or 2 3/4 inches. Hayward has the screws that came with the light at 1 1/4 and they also sell the same #13 threaded screw in a “long” version but it’s only 1 1/2, so neither are long enough for my needs.

I’m posting here after talking to Hayward and also visiting multiple hardware stores, fastener stores and websites, but this #13 thread is an oddball size possibly custom to Hayward. It’s not a 10-13 or 1/2 13 that can be found in various places. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I’m reluctant to drill out the flange, gasket and bracket for a different screw until I’ve exhausted the possibility of finding the correct size screw at a usable length for my installation. I’m wondering if maybe Hayward uses these #13 screws for skimmers or other parts in longer lengths? Anyway, if anyone has any insight or suggestions with this thank you in advance.

Keith

These guys have them….maybe.
That’s the problem with custom, if no local fastener stores or online suppliers can get you a dozen then you will be forced to retap these. Just be careful doing it.
