Hayward calculator for pump energy use? Reality or fantasy?

For what it's worth, I run my 1.5HP single speed pump only 2 hours per day, and the pool stays clean (about $0.26 per hour at $0.10 per KWH). I will occasionally run it a bit longer if the pool gets dirty for some reason, or I will manually vacuum during leaf drop season. Pretty economical for me.
 
You would just need to take into account the minimum run time for chlorine production which may or may not be a limiting factor. In most cases, a SWG can produce enough FC in less than 4 hours if set properly so it really shouldn't be a limiting factor unless you have a undersized SWG.
