Green pool........... new pool owner

Also be aware that pH reads high when fc is above 10 - so when you bring the pool back down to below 10 you may find your pH is too low. Don't try adjusting it now, but you should be prepared to deal with it later when the algae is gone and you have let chlorine levels fall to normal.

So to clarify..... Just running the pump and time will allow the chlorine levels to fall?

Sunlight will cause a lot of it to go away (% of the total each day varies by CYA and FC levels)

Results today.....

I don't understand why the TA dropped from 210 to 160 overnight...... Please advise
Thanks

Most likely testing error. Don't worry about it for now. While you're shocking, only test FC &CC. pH will be inaccurate due to the high FC, and everything else won'tchange fast enough to worry about.

Great answer! The TA test has some nuances that we can cover when you have the rest under control. Stay the course, you are doing fine.

How important is the oclt?
Extremely. It's the only definitive way to prove that there's nothing living in your pool. Let the FC fall to maintenance levels only after passing all three criteria of the shocking process.
I'm still trying to get a neighbor up to speed on this point...

The results of the oclt are........
Yesterday 8:25 pm FC-11
Today 6:30 am FC-11

Waters clear. Cc is under .5, and I didnt lose any chlorine through the night. Now to do go back to normal operation of pump and balance the TA, PH, and CH?

Thanks
