Got the TF-100 - How messed up is my pool?

I thought it was the chlorine that was needed to shock a pool.
chlorine is an oxidizer that destroys organics. There are other chemicals that will do that also, but none with the balance of cost, effectiveness, and residual that chlorine has.

Stick with chlorine for your day to day sanitation of your pool.

Just curious, how does Chlorine Free shock work? I thought it was the chlorine that was needed to shock a pool.
"The active ingredient in non-chlorine shock is potassium monopersulfate or PMP. It has little if any oxidizing potential but it does free chlorine bound up in chloramine compounds and makes it available to sanitize again"

here is what I buy and yes its expensive but i ONLY use it for after parties with heavy load so it lasts a while for me (also helped when i opened the pool to break the CC if i didn't have the bleach on hand and had to run to the store)
