Frustrated

TGarcia - I wish, for your sake you had found this site before a problem arose. It looks like you've been overloaded with pool store advice over time and it's making everything more complicated than it needs to be. My old pool store said to check CYA "seasonally". How can you know if your FC is right when you don't know what your CYA is? Things like that can be a recipe for disaster. Haven't been back. Try to forget the past and read the links provided. If you do what they say, ask questions if a specific thing doesn't seem to make sense, and don't take short cuts, you won't be sorry. With a good TFP recommended test kit (which mostly you need to get online), it won't be long until you'll begin to see potential problems just by testing even if your water looks clear.
