Freeze Protect Persistently Running

The freeze protect setting on my system keeps turning on and running my equipment when I don't want it to run. Wondering if any of you have had this issue before and trying to find the most likely equipment problem.

The controller says the air temperature is 33 degrees (I live in Houston, where it has been 100 degrees for the last four months), so the controller persistently tells the system to run.

The controller is the Zodiac/Aqualink/Jandy 8265. All of my other equipment is Jandy. Is this more likely a problem with the sensor or the controller? Advice or troubleshooting tips?

Also, does the sensor give wrong readings if it gets wet? I've had my sprinklers running a lot more the last few weeks.

I suspect that your air temp sensor is bad.. Even if not bad, they are cheap compared to a new automation card.

Step one would be to replace the air sensor.

If I replace the air temp sensor, do I need to look for the same model, or would other models be compatible with what I have?

Temperature sensors are standard 10K thermistors. Jandy, Pentair, Hayward are all the same.

The air temperature sensor should be hanging outside underneath your Aqualink panel.

You can connect a 10K resistor in place of the air temperature sensor.

If your Aqualink reads 76F then your board is good.

If your Aqualink reads any other temperature then your board is bad.
