Yes it can stain the walls. And yes if you maintain an elevated FC level and brush you should be able to at least reduce the stains.

also good to know. I will have the numbers from the pool store test hopefully up in an hour. Dont know how they would compare to a tf test.
If i were you i would ask the landlord to purchase the test kit with speed stir. Show them this site and explain how you (and future tenants) would be able to maintain it far better than any pool service. If the landlord is local have them learn it with you.

So what the pool store read was 4.0TC, 4.0FC 8.0PH, 125TA 225 Calcium hardness, 60ppm stabilizer, 2400ppm salts

Your FC is too low for your CYA and the pH is too high.

So acid will bring down the PH and Chlorine needs to be upped to balance against the CYA
According to the CYA - Chlorine chart for SWG and 60ppm CYA I should be at a target of 4 FC which is where I am at.

Yeah crapatalk doesn't have sigs. So it was really just a high ph needs brought down. Looks like it could probably use some salt too, but doesn't look like it's in desperate need of salt. I guess high pH can cause cloudiness.

pH alone will not cause cloudiness. Since your pool was not properly SLAMed, I would suspect algae in the water causing the cloudiness. Just because the FC looks fine now, if algae is still in the water it will continue to grow. The OCLT is a major criteria for knowing the algae is gone.
If you had the FAS-DPD chlorine test, then you would be able to test in the evening and morning to do the OCLT. Pool store results are not going to be good enough.
I took water too the pool store again this morning the store my landlord went to had the wrong pool size. So they said the pool needed more acid and 2 bags of salt and stabilizer. They had the right gallons. Those results were

This makes the point ... is your TA 105 or 125? Is your CYA 40 or 60? Neither of those could have changed that much in a day. This is why we don't like pool store testing.
Well the one store had my pool at 11200gal the one I went to is 16400gal which is a lot closer. Could that make the big dofference
