I just wanted to give an update to my situation. Finally, 16 days after starting the algae fight, I have WON!! I passed the OCLT and CC=0 tests several days ago. Today, the water is completely clear and sparkly!
I kept adding DE, backwashed as needed, and maintained at shock level and the results are beautiful. At one point last week when we were on the final leg of the filtering, my husband said he thought I should go to the local pool store for help. I stood firm, knowing the advice I've gotten here far surpassed anything they could tell me.
Once again, I am happily back to BBB and truly appreciate all your help!! WOOOHOOO!
