Extra butterfly gasket for Hayward skimmer install on intex?

I was wondering if it would be an advantage to purchasing a second butterfly gasket and installing one of these gaskets on each side of the pool, rather than cutting the original gasket in half with a razor blade?

Any thoughts? It's not a lot of money in the long run.

I think it would be too thick.

I didn’t cut the gasket. Take water to about two inches lower than the bottom of your skimmer will be. Install skimmer without gasket. Cut liner through faceplate. Uninstall skimmer, fit gasket on both sides of hole, reinstall skimmer.
