Excessive DE discharge: tear in filter?

Hayward 60 sq ft grid DE filter, prox 10-15 yrs old. I cleaned it in-place this year (I normally take it out of shell and pull it apart, clean and inspect each filter, etc.) by shooting water from hose. Added DE (probably too much) and now the filter is shooting DE in the pool. I thought this was temporary, but it continues to shoot DE into the pool.

Do I need to replace the filter elements, the whole filter, or are there any easier solutions?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Actually, after further searching, the culprit may be my multi-port valve. I noticed a small leak and promptly forgot about it. Since I know I will need a new vacuum (or robot) multi-valve and filter at some point, any recs for source and/or installer in So Cal area? (north San Diego)

Thanx
