Dolphin Supreme M Series Owner’s Club

Hello supreme m series owners,

First of all I hope there is still somebody reading in this thread?

I am orienting myself on a swimming pool robot.
I was interested in the Zenit 30, but the supplier I was in contact with told me that the robot is also sold under the name active X5 and M500. Also he said, the M500 is the Supreme line and is the exclusive line of Maytronics and equipped with the latest software.....
So I started looking for more information about the supreme m500 or m400.

Enclosed I have pictures of my pool and could you tell me if this gives problems for the robot to do its job or what your experience is:
  • It is a rectangular pool measuring 9.6m x 4.6m (31.5 ft x 15 ft) and has roman stairs (if I am correct with the name). Does it the affect this the robot? If so, does it complete its cleaning cycle or do you require to correct the robot?
  • From the bottom to the upright wall is not a 90 degree angle, but a quarter of a circle. Is this a problem to drive up?
On the promotional videos it is all rectangular / square.
  • Do the lighting, bottom drain and return jets cause problems?
  • Do you use a coarse and fine filter at the same time? Earlier I read that you have to select one of them?
Thank you in advance for answering my questions.
Regards,
Dominique

Your pool should provide no problems for an M500. However, you might want to consider one of the newer models of pool cleaners that exist. Either and S200 or an M600. Both those models have a single basket which makes cleaning the robot easier.

The big benefit of the M500 is the 3rd brush. I dont know how much it actually does, but makes me feel better by thinking it is giving my pool an extra brushing every time I use it.

I use the pleated filters most of the time, but switch out to the mesh ones whenever I want to clean the walls better. I might actually switch that around to using the mesh more, and occasionally using the pleated when I want a deep clean.

Glad to see this thread, as I'm new to the forum. For those of you that have had your M series for years, do you feel it was a good investment? I've been looking at pool cleaners through many hours of research, and am steering towards an M500 or even the M600, but want to make sure that the technology in the M offerings is all it's made out to be in the advertisements and vid's. There's only a couple of YouTube reviews on the M600, and wondering if it cleans better than the triple brush M500 beast that's been around for years? I've heard the M600 has a new iOT tech in it, but don't know how much of a difference it makes.........the multicolor disco lights are "neat"....Haha!

Sorry for a late reply, but I’m updating two threads in this forum shortly. I’m about to do another refurb on mine as I did three years ago, and will leave more detail on another thread. I’m starting my 7th season with the M5, and right now there is no end in sight. It could crash before summer is out but shows no signs of it at the moment. It looks like three years max is the time to replace climbing rings at a minimum with a quartz finish, and I think I’ll start with that pretty soon. If you could find all my posts regarding this model you’d hear me saying it was the best thing I did for my pool, and the best single product I can remember purchasing. I’ve used, and borderline abused this robot over the last six seasons 3-8 times weekly, and couldn’t be happier with it. It’s an investment to be sure, but as I’ve also said, it won’t be any longer than it takes to get one here that I’ll be without one when it goes. It would take some strong evidence to persuade me there was a better machine for the same money.

Patrick, I look forward to your new refurb thread. I just realized i have had my m500 since july 2015! i had been thinking 2 maybe 3 years, haha. my vinyl liner is a little easier on the machine but i just ordered some replacement climbing rings as my robot is no longer climbing the vertical walls. the belts and brushes still look good but i will get a better look when i take it apart. I did notice my center brush does have the rod extension yours did not have. and i agree, so far the best robot i have had. Thanks again for your posts.

Sweet! Good thing you have a big hatch area. That’s one big box. Fun day.

Update on replacing climbing rings and note regarding disassembly from posts 27 and 28 from this thread:

My modus operandi is to take an easy task and make it difficult. So when i tried to remove the end plug on one of the brush rollers it naturally broke off instead of pulling out despite my attempts to be gentle and evenly distribute my prying efforts. I was able to get the first brush assembly off of the rod, but for some reason the lower brush assembly would not come off. I was able to remove the end plug on the other side and get both brush assemblies off to replace the foam climbing rings. So to change the 4th ring, i turned the robot on it's other side and removed that side panel too. a pain but easier once i figured out that the two outer belt guide rings in the lower picture in post 28 simply pull off. Doing so makes it much easier to remove and reattach the belt. I'll spare you details of how i made it hard.

Adding the foam ring back to the brush roller takes some determination and effort. I was concerned i would tear the foam ring but it was sturdy enough to endure my pulling/pushing/stretching it to get it over the brushes and into position. Reference the first picture in post 28. Patrick, please let me know if there is an easy way to replace the rings. my way seems harder than it should be. thanks.

With the new rings my m500 is climbing the vertical walls much better but i did notice a few times it would not make it all the way up, so i might try the hack in this post. Dolphin Supreme M Series Owner’s Club
