Your copper stain treatment did not remove the copper from your water, it only removed the solid copper stain from the wall by making it dissolve back into solution. So you still have copper in your water.

You need to find a pool store that can do a "total copper" test, not just a "free copper" test. Free copper is just the amount of copper ions in solution but does not typically include copper that is sequestered by a metal sequestrant chemical. Total copper uses an acid digestion step which frees up all the copper in solutions and gives you a total amount.

The only way to get rid of the copper is to replace the water. You must empty some volume of pool water and replace it with metal free water.

My feeling is it is nothing more than snake oil. Like Jack & The Beanstalk, you're buying an expensive bag of magic beans that you have no verifiable proof that it is doing anything.

Consider this - how would a small sachet of ion exchange resin (which is what the CuLator is filled with) sitting in a skimmer basket where 99.9% of the water will flow around it, and not through it, be able to remove metal ions? Also, how selective is the exchange resin material considering that most ion exchange resins will chelate 2+ and 3+ ions equally well?

Even if the resin material works phenomenally well at attracting and holding specific metal ions, it's implementation as a sack of material sitting in the skimmer basket is not very useful.

You can spend the money if you want to, but I don't believe it will work any better than the natural splash-out and dilution that comes with seasonal pool use.
