Do chlorine pucks go bad over time?

Hello. I always use chlorine bleach in my pool, but twice a year when I am on vacation, in an abundance of caution, I use those dastardly chlorine pucks.

I recently bought the smallest tub I could find (don't even remember the size), but I estimate that it will take me a few years to get through the tub (I guess I don't take many vacations).

Question-- do chlorine pucks go bad over time? I keep them dry in the tub, and I usually leave the tub outside in the winter. Any thoughts? Thanks

I have a large bucket that is several years old. I have been using them since we were away a few times over the weekends and my CYA was low. They've been doing fine. I'll probably just continue until I close this season...
