De-winterizing problem - vacuuming to "waste" has reduced flow to the pump - how to clear the lines?

Hi there!
We are new pool owners and had a guy come out yesterday to tell us how to de-winterize.
We have a sand filter (no sure of the size), Emerson pump, and a rectangular 20K gallon pool.
After backwashing and rinsing, we put flocculant in the pool and left the pump on filter for 2 hours, then turned the pump off and let it set for 20 hours or so. We then turned the dial to "waste" on the pump and put the vacuum in the skimmer (plugging the other skimmer). It vacuumed for a brief period but then seemed to no longer be sucking the debris off the bottom (there is quite a bit of sludge). When checking the pump, the amount of water flow has reduced significantly. We tried to back wash and rinse, but the same thing happened (low water flow). We turned it back to "waste" and there was a very small amount of suction at the skimmer, but still slow water flow to the pump. We also closed the drain, and ran the pump on "filter". No real difference noted. Also, from what I've seen, the pressure gauge is not reading much pressure when on filter, or otherwise.
Any advice on what the problem may be and what we could do? I saw a post on this site using the "re-circulate" setting, but we don't have that on our filter.
Thanks a lot!

Welcome to TFP.

You need to check the pump impeller to see if it is clogged with debris or seeds.
