There have been several rumors this season of products sold as CYA, but actually containing something else. You might want to test your CYA before adding it to the pool to make sure it really is CYA.
1/4th teaspoon of CYA added to 5 gallons of tap water and allowed to dissolve for several days should test around 60ppm.
