CYA too high?

Where Patrick_B is going is that city water now often contains a type of chlorine that will test as CC's. So that means not to worry about that 1 CC reading as it is likely from city water and will come down on it's own.......remember, a test result of .5 CC is treated the same as if it were zero so you are not far off.

Painful, but you were wise to reduce your CYA. Your pool water management will be far easier and less expensive the rest of the summer.
 
Sorry, I shouldve said that but I was speculating on city water. They actually use ammonia in conjunction with Chlorine to create Chloramines for a different type of disinfectant. With properly managed FC residuals, you'll come down to 0.5 CC shortly. No worries.
