There should be no need to regularly 'clean' a SWCG with acid. Mine has been in service since March 2015. I have done the same as Mark, picked a couple pieces of scale out of it earlier this year.

Maintain your CSI between -0.6 and 0 and you will not have scale buildup in your SWCG.
-.6 CSI? PebbleTec told me that is absolutely incorrect and will void my warranty? He stated that -.3 is maximum. Why do you state -.6? I want to do what is technically correct but not void my warranty.
 
@mknauss, you stated that to prevent scaling on SWG cell, one should maintain a CSI of 0.6 - 0.
