Cracked thread return jet

Hi, the attached picture should speak for itself. Two of my return fittings have cracked threads. I don't know what the part looks like behind the thread. Is it set in another plastic cover, or would the water be leaking straight through?
Can anything be done about this (JB Weld, Lexel, …?) that doesn't require digging out the pipe? Or can I leave it like this?

Thanks, I'll give that a try! I should have probably done that last winter when the water was below the return lines.

I wish you luck. In my case, I had to replace the entire jet and threaded connection. My crack was at the 12 o'clock position.
