Cracked stand pipe

Hey all,

While changing sand out of my filter I noticed a small crack towards the top of the pipe, up by where the multidirectional mechanism rests in.

Can I repair this with some flex seal tape? or could I trim out the cracked area, put a coupler in and add pipe to fix the length?

Welcome! Curious, is the crack at the very top of the open end traveling downward? If so, how far? Is it concealed by the MPV when seated, or does it extended below that? I would be more inclined to cut, then use a coupler with a fresh piece to go into the MPV.

I ended up needing a new sand filter anyways. I found a hairline crack in the tank and I was leaking water. Thanks for the advice though!
