I had my pool deck poured about 3 years ago brush concrete. Last year I started noticing a few orange spots appearing when the pool deck is wet. Today my better half also noticed it and asked me what is that all about. I'm thinking it might be some iron or other metals corroding. I didn't have any vitamin c to check if it disappears. Anybody have any thoughts on what's happening here.

Let us know what the Vit C test does when you get some.

Unfortunately no change with vitamin c treatment. I applied water to the stain then rubbed the vitamin c tablet. I let it sit for about five or six minutes then wash it off.

Looks like someone set a container of and then dripped pool acid on the concrete. Perhaps another chemical.

What about bird droppings? Any limbs overhead or maybe they were sunning themselves on the patio ?

They're all different shapes and sizes. There's nothing directly over the pool but we do have a couple oak trees 20 ft away. Some of the stains are on the side of the coping as it goes into the pool so it seems like it's something that was in the concrete. I tried hose and my wired bristled pool brush and it did not help.

Some additional searching found a thread from 2015 with some people haven't luck with 50/50 mix of chlorine shock and water. With a lot of scrubbing. So I'll give that a try. In that post a lot of people had the orange color underneath their winter covers. But it was a lot more blotchy than what I am seeing. My guess is I had some contamination in my sand that was in the concrete. It was poured during COVID so always have to question anything that was made during that time.
