Clarifier instead of shock mistake

Sodium polyacrylates are the same absorbant they put in baby diapers. It tends to form a gel like substance.

My suggestion is that you closely watch your filter pressure and, as soon as it rises by 25% over clean pressure, you disassemble it and completely clean it out, ie, tear-down cleaning. Backwashing will not do anything to remove the gunk that acrylates will form with the DE. You may need to tear it down several times. It all depends on how messed up the DE looks when you open it up.
