Bear also in mind that, from what I understand, an acid wash will take a few years of life out of your plaster.
Can I drain and power wash my IG plaster pool?

What’s the update Technigogo? Did you drain? Power wash? How’d it go? I’m in Austin too and considering the same. My pool is much younger, only 4 years old but I’m a little high on CYA anyway so was thinking about a fresh fill and considered a quick power wash too.
Zach, drain away. I had no problems. Unless you live in some non-Austin like area, I would not worry about floating the pool for a minute.
Also, it was quickly apparent the power washing was not going to make any difference. We acid washed our pool and it is a huge improvement. I would not do that on a 4 year old pool, though. With ours, we did not feel that we had much to lose.
