Cache Pipe for pool pump

I was reading through a site the other day and read that I need to have a cache pipe coming out of my pool pump that is somewhere around 2' long. Has anyone else heard of this? Thoughts? Here is the article: http://www.poolrepair.com/archive/cachepipe.html

That is hardly ever important. Few people bother with that, and the lack of a cache pipe almost never causes a problem. In situations where priming is a major issue, that is one of a couple of different ways to solve the problem.
