Have you walked on the shell stone barefoot? Just the sound of it sounds like it would be painful to walk on.

As far as it being a salt water pool............all pools end up being salt water pools over time. Chlorine leaves behind some salt that builds up over time. Don't let that be your reason for picking or not picking your decking. Get what you like and feels good on the feet.
