Hello, I am trying to help a neighbor whose salt cell is broken. Its going to be a few days until it is repaired and he is wondering what chemicals he should use. Of course he needs chlorine, but should he also add cya? Thank you!

Liquid chlorine yes. More stabilizer (CYA)? That depends on their current CYA level. Hopefully your friend is using a TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C test kit of their own. If they are going to the pool store for testing, it's anyone's guess.
Always refer to the FC/CYA Levels to keep the FC balanced to the CYA.
