I have only owned a pool less than a month and it is only a little over a week with a properly working filter so i am not ready to drop the money on an automatic but am looking into salt.

Thanks for the info on the numbers. The pool had heavy use and hopefully that is what the higher cc was.

Last time I checked my CYA was 50.

Heavy use will bring up the CC. A couple of days in the sun should bring it down.

8 is good for 50 CYA if you are testing daily. If you are stretching it out you may want to bring that target up just a hair. In short order you should get a feeling for your pool and how it consumes chlorine.
