Best way to raise CYA?

My current level is at or below 30. Should just throw a couple tabs in? FC was at 2.5 yesterday and I added a whole
gal of liquid chlorinator and FC is only 2.8 this morning. Temp here was in the mid 40s last night.

CYA for a non salt water pool should be between 30ppm and 50pm. Is it at 30ppm or below? if it is 30 then let it ride unless you have a pool in full sun then you might want to raise it a little. You can use tri-clor tabs in a floater to raise the CYA if you have them or you can use the sock method. Use the Pool Math app to figure out how much CYA you need and fill an old sock or panty hose. Then hang the sock or panty hose in front of a return jet with the pump on. Squeeze the sock every now and then to help disperse quicker. Make sure not to overshoot your target or you will have to drain and refill or keep higher amounts of chlorine.

I really can not tell for sure. Wife says she can not see the dot at 30 but I think I can. This is the one test that I struggle with.

That is a tough test. What I have been told is to go outside on a sunny day hold it down by your hip and glance at it for no more than a moment or two if you see the dot keep going.
