Best cover for above ground pool - 18 Round - Suggestions please.

Hello,

I know this is an old post and you may not be active anymore. My fingers are crossed!

I bought the cover you mentioned because after one winter dealing with the traditional pool cover I knew there must be a better way. Your photo makes it all look so tidy and way less depressing than what mine looked like all last winter.

QUESTION: Do you use that flat cover on the opening of the skimmer to prevent water from getting into the skimmer and freezing if the rain/snow fills the pool up over winter? Even if I drain my pool 6” below the return, there’s still a chance we could get more precipitation than that in my area over that amount of time.

We never use the skimmer winter plate. We lower the water and it freezes solid. We drain water off the cover till it freezes solid. You could lower the levels till it freezes.

We lower the water. Yesterday due to all the rain we've had, we checked the level and used a hose to siphon more water out. We keep an eye on it until the water freezes.
