I'm in the NW and ours has gone up, too. We filled June 20 and I've already got calcium buildup like you wouldn't believe :? I guess I'll eventually need to see it as 'adding character' to the pool, but it's tough to accept it when it's so new.

Not to sound stupid (but then the stupid question is the one not asked) What is the bucket test? What is is for and how do you do it?

The bucket test is a way of checking for leaks.

Get a bucket, put it in the pool so that the rim is above water level and fill it with water to the same level as the pool. If you have an auto fill system, disable it. Wait a day or two and compare the water level in the bucket to the water level in the pool. If they are the same you don't have any leaks. If the pool is lower then you probably have a leak.
