We just bought a house with a 10,000 gallon, fiberglass pool. We are in central Florida, so the pool is usable all year. We also have a solar water heater, for the pool. The pool was neglected, but they hid that fact, by pouring lots of chlorine in the pool, the few times we were there, before we closed. It has an autopilot dig-220 system. The owner said it worked fine; It doesn't.
I have a basic 5 bottle testing kit. When we first got there, the water was a bit cloudy, so I tested and the chlorine was at 0. We turned on the pumps and got to work on the rest of the house. The next day, the water was starting to turn green. We picked up a few gallons of chlorine and dumped 2 gallons in the pool yesterday and scrubbed and scrubbed and left the pump on. We also noticed the water level had gone down, so we filled the pool also. (I'm hoping this is just a problem, when adding a bunch of chlorine and no rain.) I haven't been back to the house yet today.
We tested the autopilot last night. The screen display isn't working, but there is A/C going to the unit. We opened it up and saw, mudbugs had a nice nest there and the fans weren't going.
I'm guessing, we need a whole new unit. Is there a way to check, if we can just replace parts, or if we have to buy a whole new unit? If we do need a new one, is there a better one out there, than the dig220 and if so, will it fit with our current system?
Thanks
