Autocover closes fine, but will not open

I've got an inground pool. My cover gets about halfway open, jerking and making noise the whole way, then freezes. It will close just fine, no noise or trouble.

Any ideas?
It's a save-t 3 cover.

Are the noises coming from the tracks or the motor box area?

Check the tracks and ropes for binding at the points it gets noisy.

Post pics of your pool, cover, tracks, and motor box areas.

Noise from tracks. What Ive found is that if I manually pull the rope off the spools at the motor, the cover opens fine. It always closes ok, but for some reason, the spools don't feed rope out fast enough during opening.

Hope to be clear and slightly long winded.
Are any of the pulleys in the cover vault box binding, OR, from what I've seen is when the cover is closing the spools are taking up the rope. Now when there's resistance in closing, the spool doesn't wind smoothly across the face of the spool but rather it jams the rope in-between the rope rows and gets very tight and jamed in and then another layer on top of that. So now when the cover closes the rope is stuck on the spool and can't unspool. That resistance on the motor causes the amp limiter to cut out as a safety to not cause more damage.
