My auto fill float valve sounds like a toilet running all day everyday. I just bought the house and I don’t know if there is a master valve to shut it off. The old owner has dementia and has no idea. There are no gate valves near the float valve and there are no fill/gate valves near the pool equipment. Is it typical for this thing to run all the time? It was not running when it rained the other day. I am in Central Valley California.

Nope, not supposed to run all the time.

Go hunting around your new house for the shutoff.

This time of year I suspect it could run all the time. Is it dripping or actually pouring water out? Evaporation is quite high right now with warm days, warm pool water and cool nights.

I did, it’s nowhere to be found. Do they always put it buy the pool equipment? I am on a private well if it matters.

There is no standard for where a shutoff may be put.

Post pics of the autofill.

Look around for a backflow valve.
Maybe somewhere within sight of the pool or pool equipment.

Pics of the autofill and surrounding area would help.
