At my kitchen sink I have three taps. Water that was just filtered through a carbon filter, water treated by the water softener, and RO treated water. Carbon filtered is used in cooking, RO is our primary source for drinking water, and the soft water for all other uses. The carbon filtered tastes a little better than the RO. But with RO comes the knowledge that heavy metals like lead and other metals,as well as organics, arsenic, etc. have all been removed. The soft water is used for bathing, cleaning and all other non consumption uses.
