Algae out of control

First the stats, tested with a TF100
FC=5
CC=1.5
CYA=30
TA=80
I can't find my PH test kit, I'll locate it and fill that piece in.

I was out of town all last week and came home to an emerald green pool .This is our third summer with this pool, I've had a couple algae blooms but nothing like this - can't see 6 inches down.

Anyway, I'm about to start SLAMing but my question is, should I get CYA level up before I start? I have a SWCG, the recommendation, unless I'm reading it wrong is around 70. Thanks

I would think you SLAM at your current level of CYA. If you bring it up to 70 first, then you have to use that SLAM number which is a great deal more bleach. Finish SLAM then bring back up CYA.

^^ That's correct. Once you verify and adjust the pH to about 7.2, start the SLAM now with a CYA of 30. Less bleach.
