Hey folks! Making a few improvements to get the pool ready for the season, and I have a question regarding my pool suction intake. I'm replacing the over-the-side skimmer with a wide-mouth Hayward skimmer, and I am planning on using skimmer socks to catch pollen & other fines. I upgraded my pump (1.5HP) and filter (19" sand) last year, so the system can move some water when running in high speed. I will be hard piping the skimmer, and could easily use one of the existing intake ports in addition to the skimmer to provide a relief (in case the skimmer sock gets plugged). Each line would have it's own ball valve, so most the suction would come through the skimmer.
Is it worth doing this?
